Need Guidance?
If you're a tourist unfamiliar with the customs or rituals, feel free to ask one of the local guides at the entrance to the bathing pools. They’ll help you through the ceremony for donations and even take photos!
Fountain Facts
Each fountain in the pools has its own "cleansing power" and name. Some expel demons, while others cure ailments, help couples conceive, and promote health and wealth. Note that some fountains are for cleansing the deceased during cremation rituals and should not be used by visitors.
Visiting & Ceremony
If you want to simply explore, the entrance fee is 50k IDR, and you can borrow a sarong for free. Interested in the purification ceremony? You'll need a green sarong for 10k IDR and a locker rental for 15k IDR.
Sacred Waters
The Balinese consider the water at Tirta Empul Temple especially holy. The temple is built around a spring that, according to legend, was created by the warrior god Indra.
